Sam Joseph - Military Advisor
SGM (R) Sam Joseph served 27 years on active duty in the US Army. He held leadership positions for 22 of those years. SGM Joseph served in the 1/75th Ranger Regiment, 1/509th Airborne Infantry Regiment, the 10th Special Forces Group, and in the Special Mission Unit at Fort Bragg, NC. His assignments included tours in the Levant, Iraq, Africa, and throughout Central and South America.
SGM Joseph led the assault team that rescued Kurt Muse, held hostage by the Panamanian Government, during Operation Just Cause. During Operation Desert Storm SGM Joseph served as a team leader performing long range reconnaissance missions. During Operation Iraqi Freedom he served as Task Force Command Sergeant Major.
His awards include the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Silver Star Medal (awarded by President Bush in 1990), the Purple Heart Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal with V Device, the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and the 1990 OSS Award of Excellence — awarded for leading a successful hostage rescue mission.
SGM Joseph retired from the Army in 2004 to become a Department of the Army civilian. He served as the deputy director of the Special Mission Unit’s Research and Development Directorate. He retired from government in 2022, after over 46 years of service both in and out of uniform.
Currently SGM Joseph serves as a consultant with Mayvin Defense Services. He assists our NATO special operations partners in developing training and support programs.
He holds a BS in Liberal Arts from Liberty University, multiple certificates from the Defense Acquisition University, and program management certifications from North Carolina State University.
